“We received the call after midnight 18 years ago. Desperate women from the brothels of India were asking us to take their children…We were faced with a decision that would change the course of our entire future. As we stepped forward into what we thought God wanted us to do, we came face to face with the forces of evil, but we were exactly where God wanted us to be.”—Beth Grant
In 2014, the Assemblies of God World Missions, Europe Leadership Team made the decision to adopt the ministry ‘Project Rescue’ as the regional response to human trafficking in Europe. In April 2015, AGWM Europe convened our second annual meeting of the Europe Project Rescue Network. Beth Grant, co-founder of Project Rescue in India, shared her story with us in Bucharest, Romania, where missionaries and local workers from eleven different European countries came together with passion for the growth of this network in Europe. The purpose of our time together was to encourage relational support, develop regional resourcing, and have prayer times together, believing for breakthroughs and victories for the sexually enslaved. It was an honor to have special guests Sandie Morgan, Bill Prevette, Joni Middleton and Tim & Marketa Southerland, as well as several national leaders, who share a common vision to combat human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
David and Beth Grant, have committed to journey with the Europe Region, as we continue to develop anti-human trafficking ministries in the European context. I am convinced that partnering with Project Rescue will extend our influence and impact in ministering to women and men who have been sexually trafficked in Europe, who are in need of restoration, hope and healing in Jesus.
Ministry collaboration is essential in fulfilling Christ’s mission to bring freedom to the estimated 500,000 women who are trafficked annually in Europe and forced into prostitution. Romania is considered the leading ‘source’ country in Europe from which women are recruited. I am so thankful for role models and mentors like the Grants who reminded us at our network meeting that “in the face of this storm in Europe, we are in the boat together - and Jesus is with us.”
